reinstall: delete whole root and use database again ??

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

reinstall: delete whole root and use database again ??

Post by corvus »

I tried to install beta6 over beta5...
No luck. Could not get upgrade to work. Gave me a fatal error in a module.
I decided to throw away everything.

Now when I do a fresh install of beta5 again will I be able to use my old database ?
Or do I have to build everything from scratch.  :-[

Please help

Always make a database backup before upgrading, so you can get back to the old situation.
Leave "Create Tables (Warning: Deletes existing data)" unchecked during install to use the old database.
If there is a beta6 compatible version of the module causing the error, uploading that will solve the issue.

I did make a backup.

All worked except my menu bar  :-[
So I copied my content pages to a texteditor and deleted my who webroot.
Installed 0.13 fresh with empty database and started all over.

I think I'll stick to the released software and skip the beta's ;-)
Unless they are needed for security reasons.
