new design is ignored

dear forists,

cmsms ver 2.2.21, php ver 8.3

I created a new design with a new template and new css assiociated.
I made the new design default design and the new template default template.
I deleted cmsms and browser cache.

but cmsms kept on using the old template.

any hints? - - - thx

In ContentManager, edit the page you are changing, on the Options tab, is the new Design and Template selected.

If it is then try a temporary mod to see if the template changes on the admin page, e.g. add in ...
{content block=test_block label="Test Content Block" online=1}

... and see if that is added into the 'Main' tab when editing that page.

Then you should also be able to use & see anything entered in the "Test Content Block" when you view the frontend page.

Setting a design to default doesn't change the design of existing pages, default just means it's the default for new pages. You can change the design and template content pages are using either by editing each page, or using the bulk edit feature in Content Manager.

i wasn't aware of the bulk edit thing, it's great.
i couldn't access any page bc the template I wanted to use was broken somehow. the site was broken.
the buld edit saved my ass in a way.

Try working through the PHP error logs to see what is breaking it. Also double check the PHP version that is being used.

It sounds like there was another issue hiding in the background.

I looked up the webserver log files and did not find anything useful - they are actually almost empty.
