Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Thanks,
so i need PHP 7.4 and check if CMSMS 2.2.20 runs on that, then i can use TinyMCE-Module version 3.3.2, is this the right solution for the near future until the Module becomes a new update to fit PHP 8.0 or higher?
The site i just updated had PHP 5.6 and CMSMS 1.12.2 - if we need another year for the new TinyMCE-Module it is no problem.
For now it is CMSMS 2.2.20 PHP 8.0 and Microtiny.

Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Hi Jan, the latest version 2.2.21 should run just fine on 7.4.
I am planning on getting to the upgrade of TinyMCE in the next few weeks. I also prefer to use it and add in quite a few little extra features for clients that MicroTiny doesn't have.
In the interim I am just using MicroTiny - hopefully not for much longer.

Thanks chrisbt,
i can wait until it is ready and use microtiny, one can always use the html-source.
I do appriciate your work for i have always used Tinymce and changed its setting to have the extra's it offers like colored text.
The install outside of CMSMS i have done a couple of times, giving a user the possiblity to change the one or the other html-page without a complete CMS.

I'm also always use TinyMCE as it is much more suitable for my customers.
I really apreciaat al the work of the development team and I thank chrisbt for picking up the upgrade of TinyMCE.
I good CMS is nothing without a good wysiwyg editor and TinyMCE is one of the best.
Thank you so much.

Hi,
i just updated a 2.2.16 to 2.2.21.
That went well.
I wanted to install TinyMCE but through the XML-file it did not work:
So i copied the files from the zip-file, now the modulemanager does not "see" TinyMCE.
The version is 3.3.2.
How can i make modulemanager "see" the module?
I have switches the site to PHP 7.4 like is written before.

Hi Jan,
It definitely should work installing it via the XML file.
Alternatively if you copy the zip file into /modules, and expand it so that all the modules files are in /modules/TinyMCE and that the file /modules/TinyMCE/TinyMCE.module.php exists then the module manager should be able to 'see' the file and install it.

Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Hi,
thanks for the answer. I used to do right that, copy the files into the module-subdirectory i did this very often.
Strange enough did it not work this time.
I will delete the subdirectory and try to install the 2.9 version that is running in another install similar to this one.
Installing the XML-file for TinyMCE left me logged out of the backend several times.
I guess i will have to see what is written in the logfiles, something is wrong.
The reason i wanted to install TinyMCE is that in Microtiny in this install stripped the javascript "onclick ..." to make a div visible or hidden,
the accordeon as is described in w3css.
I will notify later, i must visit the garage (whose Website i made new), my old saab needs a repair.

Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
I'm designing and building websites for almost 20 years now. All website are build using CMSMS except for e-commerce websites. Then I use Wordpress.
I was reading the article about CMS Made Simple VS Wordpress and do agree about the flexibelity about designing and building templates but when it comes to modules, Wordpress is the better one. Espescialy the latest years, a lot of the modules from CMSMS are not maintained and less and less modules become available. One of the greates drawbacks of CMS Made Simple is the editor. Wordpress hase several editors but CMS only has
one simple editor. In the old days there were several editors available thinking about TinyMCE and FCKEditor but the latest versions of CMS Made Simple only support Microtiny. Untill now I managed to install also TinyMCE by copying the module files but it really would be nice if more editors would be available for CMSMS by default (via Module Manager). Hope this will be true in the future again.

Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Hi,
i have experimented a bit.
If i install 2.2.21 new i cannot install TinyMCE, just after a click to install the XML i drop out of the backend.
I changed from Firefox with a load of privacy-plugins to Chrome without plugins, that does not make a difference.
2.2.21 was deleted, DB emptied and a 2.2.12 installed. Here i can install TinyMCE as a module but i cannot use it to change content.
If i change in my account that i want to use TinyMCE i get html, no wysiwyg. Microtiny is working,
So, back to my original problem.
I needed to put a bit of javascript in the wysiwyg-editor - hiding or showing a div with "onclick" this is stripped out of the content if i save the page.
If anyone has an idea on how to circumvent this problem or how to change the settings for microtiny i then do not need TinyMCE.
I welcome any ideas however on how to use TnyMCE in combination wiith CMSMS 2.2.21 - If i can contribute in this cage i am very willing to do so but am not a real php-developer, i can make small programs but that is all.
regards,
Jan

Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Be shure to put this in your .htaccess :
Replace the default /module line with : RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/modules/(?!TinyMCE/responsive_filemanager/filemanager/).*\.php$
Just tested on CMSMS 2.2.21 and copying the TINYMCE module map still working.
(See attachment)
Code: Select all
# The following are highly recommended security settings for files in your CMSMS install that should not be browsed directly.
#
RedirectMatch 403 ^/.*\.htaccess$
RedirectMatch 403 ^/.*\.log$
RedirectMatch 403 ^/.*\.ini$
RedirectMatch 403 ^/.*config\.php$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/doc/.*$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/lib/.*\.php$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/tmp/.*\.php$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/modules/(?!TinyMCE/responsive_filemanager/filemanager/).*\.php$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/uploads/.*\.php$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/assets/.*\.php$
RedirectMatch 403 ^.*/assets/.*\.tpl$

Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Thanks for the hint, i will try that.
I found 2 plugins that i used many years ago "function_toggle_start.php" and "function_toggle_end.php" with the css to make it work.
If this is still working it is easier for the user editting the text.
Regards,
Jan
PS musiscore, ook nederlander?

Ja, Nederlander
Re: is TinyMCE still a possibility
Ok i found an all-css solution for toggling content.
Then i thought of using "snippets" so the user could edit the content with the wysiwyg editor.
Bad luck, the module is not maintained and does no longer work
I will ask this in another part of the forum as well:
since version 2 "global content blocks" are no longer there, is there a way in 2.2.21 to make contentblocks that the user can edit with a wysiwyg-editor and are integrated in the content with a smarty-tag?
