0.12.2 database size?

I'm running my website's database backup utility and it keeps downloading an empty file 20 bytes in size.  Is there any other way to grab a backup of my database?  I'll need to talk to my host about it but the person my host has on record for technical contact (not me) isn't available for another week or so and I would really like to grab a backup in the meantime if I can.

Well I did find a way to log in to the database and have it export everything as a .sql file (and a .xml file just to be safe).  STill can't use the host's default download for backup, it gives me weird errors and is behaving generally oddly, but at least my data is backed up somehow. Hopefully my host can get that fixed up for me.
