Help with Using Numerics in Page Aliases - Version 2.2.2

Post by pjb »

In the 2.2.2 release notes, I read that strictly numeric page aliases are no longer valid, as a security measure. But the same note suggests that numeric characters mixed with alpha characters should be ok as page aliases.

I have (years worth) of pages with aliases that look like this:

summer-track-8-2-2016

where the numerics are used to stand for dates.

HOWEVER, since upgrading to CMSMS 2.2.2 I've encountered two things I don't understand:

1. When I attempt to create a new page with, for example, a page alias of

summer-track-8-2-2017

I get a message box stating that this alias is invalid because it is used by another page on the site. Which I know is not true, at last for the entire page alias I've entered. I can make copies of pages that have no numerics in the page aliases. Maybe the numeric part of the alias isn't getting recognized, so just the "summer-track" part is triggering the duplicate alias message?? Or there's something else amiss?

2. When I attempt to use the content manager to make a copy of an existing page with an alias like

summer-track-8-8-2017

I get a white screen and the web console shows the editing page hanging up on
/admin/moduleinterface.php with a 500 error

Is there something about the (apparently new) convention for pages aliases that I'm not understanding? Or is this possibly a bug?

Help! Thank you.

Within a week or two I would imagine. It's in the final testing stages now, just needing approval from a few more Dev Team members.

Is there a firm release date yet, or could you let me know how a temp fix could be implemented? I have 3 sites waiting to go live and they all have 'Shareholder Sections' which have many pages ending in numerical (i.e. AGM 2017)...clients want to use the CMS to update themselves and at the moment I cannot release to them due to the restriction...
