[solved] CGCalendar No events in admin (FE OK) module_custom

Recent upgrade from CMSMS V1 (thread for details).

Front end shows CGCalendar items OK with pre-existing templates.

Back end does not show any events, see screenshot:

CGCalendar has been upgraded today from 1.16.1 -> 2.4.9 as part of the CMSMS 1 -> 2 upgrade.

Perhaps significantly the CGCalendar upgrade went fine but I noted when I upgraded I was given a warning:

The following modules have customizations in the <root>/module_custom directory of your installation. These customizations may or may not cause errors after the upgrade. You may need to remove or revise these customizations to restore proper functionality. Proceed with caution.

Now, this site DID have module_custom alterations in the past. I noticed the module_custom directory there before I did the CMSMS upgrade, saw it was empty (used to have stuff in it) and deleted it. CMSMS cache cleared too.

But somehow the CGCalendar upgrade procedure is still thinking module_custom alterations are in place despite the fact that the module_custom directory has been deleted. Is that perhaps the cause of the back end not showing events?

CGCalendar has changed dramatically from the 1.x series to what it is now. So if you have a module_custom override you certainly must move it out of the way until you re-do it.

check /assets/module_custom/CGCalendar (and rename that whole directory for a while).
check your javascript error console, and of course make sure that you have access to the php error logs.

Ah, perfect.

I had checked and deleted /module_custom before the upgrade.

I was forgetting to check the new place /assets/module_custom, where there was a CGCalendar directory. Something must have copied the directory there. As soon as I removed it, the back end started showing events again.
