Gallery: Upscaling to "maximum" size

I found this post in Dutch which, when translated by Chrome, seems to suggest the same problem:

My problem is that I have set a "maximum" resize size in Gallery of 3000 pixels. However for images *smaller* than this, they are upsized to 3000 pixels.

I'd like for smaller images not to be resized. The wording on the settings for Gallery suggests this to be the case, but it is not. It was apparently fixed in v2.3.1 but I am using v2.3.2 (the latest).

Any fixes?
