Adding myself a reminder to update the docs site, and we're currently Short story is: themes exported from 2.x can be imported to 2.x really easily, the documentation is going to be along the lines of "click export. click import."
Importing a 1.x theme to a 2.x design is not possible. You will need to upgrade the 1.x site first, or manually copy your templates and stylesheets.
Not getting the answer you need? CMSMS support options

Hello digi,

I am a complete newbie with cms(ms). not a newbie in html/css/js.

it`s a fresh install, and i am able to get a theme imported through "layout - design manager - options - import" but it doesnt show in content manager.

maybe you or someone who feels the need can (if you got the time) send me a email with the steps to follow(doesnt have to be in nice sentences :-) )

Content manager is for content (let's say pages)
Design manager is for design: (page) template, stylesheets etc

In content manager you create a new page (Add New Content).
If you want to change the template for this new content (page by default) go to the 'Options' tab and then first change 'Design' followed by 'template'.

In Design Manager you can set a default design and a default page template. This will make those default (obviously) for new pages you create.
