Site still breaks every 30 days or so

The system breaks every 30 days or so (Yesterday being another time). Clearing the server-side cache files seems to allow me back in, but it still requires a full restore of the site from a working period, including the database.

I noticed a global setting called:
Server Cache Settings:
Remove cache files that are older than the specified number of days: 30

I changed that to 14, hoping the CSS stops breaking and that I won't have problems getting into the admin.

Any ideas as to why the site breaks the CSS all the time, would be appreciated.

Can't offer an instant solution but this is how I would tackle the same problem.

Upgrade to the latest CMSMS now.

If it breaks again, carefully inspect the CMSMS admin log for any clues. Then grab your PHP error log and check for clues there. Also post the full HTML you get from the broken page, it should help find out where it's all going wrong.

It broke again.

I did upgrade it to the latest version.

How do I view the logs when the only way to access the site is by uploading a complete backup from a few days ago?

My client is getting pissed that this keeps happening. All the CSS is gone and I can't access the admin because the database needs to be re-uploaded from the backup.

In the original post I made: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=74811, DrCSS suggested to go into the server side file manager and clear the tmp/cache and tmp/templates_c folders
I did this and that fixed the problem.

This was only 24 hours after the site broke again yesterday.

Is there any way to clear these files automatically every day? I have the: "Remove cache files that are older than the specified number of days" set to 1 day, but when I went back to check it just now, it was back to 14 days.

Better yet, why is this happening all the time?

I need help with this. The site is breaking every day now. I have the Server Cache Settings set to remove the files every day. Doesn't this feature remove the files in the tmp/cache and tmp/templates_c folders?
Once I manually remove them, the site is restored.

I saved the latest dat files from the cache folder and the php files from the templates_c folder if that helps anyone.

Someone please help.

Is there any error in PHP error log?
Without a PHP error (which apparently is what is breaking the site) we cannot even try to diagnose the problem. We need enough info to either understand it or reproduce it, otherwise we can't offer much help if any...

I just upgraded to 2.1.6 and it upgraded fine.

There was an error in the checking of the installation that wanted the config.php file to be writable (777) until after the installation. Do I change it back to 444 now? Could that be one of the problems?

I will look for the error log.

Change it back to 444 if the install assistant didn't do that for you, and no, that won't cause any problem. It's the proper security measure.
