Gallery appears to be deleting images

I'm seeing really odd behaviour in Gallery, this seems such an obvious bug that I suspect I'm just doing something wrong.

So I thought it would be best to post here first, so that someone else can check whether they can reproduce it, before I log it in the Forge.

Whenever I change the sort order in any Gallery template from the default of unsorted to (say) ascending by filedate, all of the images in every subfolder which has been copied to the cache are removed from the Gallery - the whole subfolder is removed (images, thumbnails and the folder itself).

Using CMSMS 2.1.4 (clean install)
with Gallery, AceEditor2, TinyMCE
Running WAMPserver 64-bit on Windows 10 64-bit (Apache 2.4.17, PHP 5.6.16, MySql 5.0.11)

And the same behaviour seen also on cPanel shared hosting account

Oops, that should have been MySQL 5.7.9 for WampServer
