I know that there are three projects in the forge but not a single one is working at present. Then there is Piratos idea of using a JavaScript based shop which does not work for me because I need the shop for an accessibiity-website. Now I have been looking through the forums and found a link on ZenCart and CMSMS but it seems to be dead as well. That is really sad because CMSMS would have been the CMS of choice and ZenCart is my shop of choice. Both use Smarty and that would just be the perfect match. But maybe someone here has come up with another solution or can point me to the right direction.

Nils
Recommendations for CMSMS and Shopping-Cart
Re: Recommendations for CMSMS and Shopping-Cart
Hello Nils,
I created the CartMadeSimple project and there is work being done on it (just not commiting anything until i have a working model) and i'm open to suggestions. Please feel free to submit requests on the project as it'll help me get some shape to it and possibly motivate me to work a little harder
If you have development experience i can use a hand, other projects i'm working on is
ShopMadeSimple (sms)
PaymentMadeSimple (pms)
Regards
Gary

Re: Recommendations for CMSMS and Shopping-Cart
Gary,
I saw those projects and if I wasn't such a lousy PHP programmer (if I was at all), I would help you. I am not really experienced in shop-systems but I was playing around a lot with ZenCart recently. However I guess it is much too big for most projects so I would like to know what the scope of your shop / cart would be and will be.
Regards,
Nils

Re: Recommendations for CMSMS and Shopping-Cart
I have about 1.5 years in loose PHP programming (self taught) and I am considering helping with programming the shopping cart. I have good experience in designing data models (I designed a data model for a production help desk application) as well as I have CSS, Photoshop skills too!
I think we could learn from osCommerce and ZenCart (I made a site with ZenCart), but I do not think that we should port it into a fresh and new CMS like this one - the effort needed to port it could be spent helping the existing effort of Payment Made Simple and Cart Made Simple.
For discussion -> I have installed Joomla and VirtueMart, I like the way VirtueMart is its own application and within it, other modules/components can be installed like Payment, Shipping, etc.
More discussion -> Many hosting companies are now using MySQL 5 and PHP 5 (website don't tell all, call them and ask). Is there consideration to restrict the requirements of CMSMS to these versions? Advantage of MySQL are availability of triggers and stored procedures (i am sure there is more pros) and PHP 5 is 40% faster than 4.

Well the size and scope i'm sure will grow over time, initially i just want to have the basics up and running. Then expand as demanded.

Re: Recommendations for CMSMS and Shopping-Cart
Hi Lahuindai
How are you progressing with the shop/cart development?
The reason Im asking is that I had thought about developing a shop to integrate into CMSMS a while back, and just recently searched if anyone had done one since. Im delighted that youve decided to pursue this.
Do you know when you will have a beta version for testing? If you need help with testing, or further development, I would be delighted to offer assistance.
Thanks & best of luck with it.

harlemangel: Almost there, just came back from 2 weeks leave (had to get away fromthe keyboard) and will be slamming into it again with gusto. Expect a beta in about 2 weeks time ....
Re: Recommendations for CMSMS and Shopping-Cart
That is indeed good news and I am also very curious to see a shopping cart and test it ...
