CMSMS 2- Scam upgrade? email?

Post by burlington »

Hello

I have just had an email from a person I did a CMSMS site for that reads:
I've had a notice informing me of a new version of CMS - CMSMS 2
The authors and CMSMS website have a complete rundown of the new version and how to transfer to it....
however I don't understand a word of it!
They say that CMSMS 1 will be supported for a year.
Now, I know that CMSMS 2 has been around for a while but I can see no reason why this person, whose site I developed, has had this email.

I suspect it is a scam. What do you think please?

Regards

Martin

ps for the record, this is the first time I have heard of this type of email.

The content of the message is factual... Support for the 1.x series ends in September (now).

Your customer could have gotten this information by being sent a message from another user, or may have subscribed to our newsletter. One never knows.

If your customer is sending you these emails, it probably means he is just being proactive, and wants his site maintained. That's a good thing.

You'll find out for sure when you contact him.

The CMSMS Admin gives this notice, he might be talking about that. One visit to cmsmadesimple.org will tell him the rest.
