[SOLVED]Protected Content Forbidden after Upgrade to CMS 2.1

Post by postiffm »

I had CMS 2.0.1.1 running a site and protected content was working fine. Last night, I upgraded to 2.1 and suddenly protected content is broken. The same thing happened on another site yesterday that is running 2.1, and I cannot figure out why.

I can log in with the front-end-users email-id and password that I created, but all protected content is
Forbidden

We are sorry, but you do not have the appropriate permission to view this item.
So, I said, maybe I'm dumb and forgot to upgrade a couple of modules. Sure enough, I did. So I should have upgraded CGExtensions from 1.49.11 to 1.50. I tried, and got this error box in red at the top of my CMS admin page:
The CMSMS core must be upgraded before this operation can succeed
But I'm already at 2.1, there's no newer version to upgrade to.

And the FrontEndUsers module needs to upgrade from 1.30.6 to 1.30.7, but it depends on CGExtensions, so I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

Oh yes, one other thing. I can log in to the members-only part of my site, but because the sign-out page is protected content, I cannot get to it in order to sign out!

Had a similar issue where I upgraded from 2.0.1.1 to 2.1, then tried to upgrade CGExtensions from 1.49.11 to 1.50 and got the red message:
The CMSMS core must be upgraded before this operation can succeed
A cache clear seemed to solve it for me and the module upgraded successfully.

That worked to get rid of the module-upgrade error. We could make a case that this should happen automatically without having to do the manual intervention, since a cache is not supposed to introduce errors.

It did not help to fix the forbidden content problem. I didn't think it would because I've been clearing the cache frequently while trying to figure out what is going on with that on my other site.

The protected content fix is in svn and will be included in an upcoming 2.1.1
