Working syntax highlighter for CMSMS2?

I used AceEditor and as was posted in the release notes, these no longer work with CMSMS2. Since there is no chance AceEditor will be updated, i was wondering if there are any working syntax highlighters available for V2?

The black on white is just too notepaddy...

Since the User preference section specifically has an option for code highlighting, it would be great if someone could take up the cause


EDIT: What are people using to code in CMSMS2? The default editor is not conducive to high productivity.

Does template externalizer still work?
