Re: Install with No Phar
The installer requires that the phar_extensions be loaded. Sorry.
phar is a standard part of PHP now, can't understand why some hosts decide to disable it.

Re: Install with No Phar
I was going to ask exactly the same question. I just tried to update a CMSMS site from 1.12 to 2.0.1 and it failed due to a lack of PHAR in the PHP distribution (version 5.5.26). They did offer to transfer the site to a server elsewhere that does support PHAR but that is not convenient just now until into the New Year.
The other three CMSMS Sites that I look after on a different Hosting Company said they don't support PHAR currently (PHP Version 5.5.30), but would do after their next build of PHP across all their servers (but didn't say when that would be), or I could pay them for an hours Server Management Charge to do a manual upgrade for it.
So I am stuck just now until the servers get updated or change Hosting companies - too much effort to do that.

The PHAR system is no use for us either. Sorry but we need the traditional file set too please. Not good
