v2.0.1 Installation stops after step 5

I am installing 2.0.1 using the installation assistant which I put in a subdirectory and then pointed the installation to the root directory.

I have attached a screenshot of step 3 configuration tests.

Step 4
The database was set up and connected as it should.

Step 5
After entering the administration information and password I chose yes to salt password and no to email info. and clicked next.

What followed was a blank white screen.

I have gone back and double checked everything and am unable to get past step 5.

Have you checked your error logs? read through the readme file that is distributed with the zip? tried debug mode?

The server error logs were empty, yes I have read through the readme text, I tried debug mode and it did not work. I tried one more clean install and had the same result.
