CMSMS 2.0 News action=fesubmit

I have a page that adds news using

{news action='fesubmit' formtemplate="xxx_AddNews"}

There are two problems. First if the 'summary' field is marked 'required' a message is displayed when clicking Submit ameesage is displayed saying 'Please fill in this field.' but no field name etc.

Second, if 'summary' is not made required and Submit clicked, the form appears to complete but the news is never added to the database. The value of $dbr shows fields 0 and EOF.

This all works correctly on 1.12.1
