SOLVED CGFeedback stops functioning for no obvious reason

Post by Andrew Prior »

I discovered I could not submit a comment to my own site-- try onemansweb.orghealing-and-the-family-sa ... 20-35.html for example, using CGFeedback: it said my email address was invalid. The system has been working successfully for years. I have made no changes since posting a comment a couple of weeks ago.

I found could get around this issue by adjusting the backend not to require the email address to be included, but then found that the notification page after submitting a comment would no longer display correctly. I get a malformed page with no images…

I already have 1.12 Pohnpei installed, and PHP 5.5 and the correct modules upon which CGFeedback depends.

I updated to the latest version of CGFeedback. Email addresses are now being accepted, but the notification page is still corrupted and… I find that I cannot even open an already submitted comment to edit it in the back end.

The page is completely blank. I don't know if this was the case before the latest update. The problem occurs in both chrome and iexlorer.
There are several hundred comments on the site, which I do not wish to lose.

I have manually reapplied the module xml file to no avail.
How can I, indeed can I at all, uninstall this module and then later restore the data as well as the bare bones module? Has anyone ever restored the MySQL tables for this module successfully?

Any suggestions on how to proceed gratefully received!
Andrew

I have also used cPanel to remove all the module files and re-install. This has made no change to the symptoms. However, by removing the files again and installing the old version, all is fine. So I guess the old version was corrupted, and I made things worse with the new version.
