Using 'Search' module with Captcha to prevent hacker entry.

Post by burlington »

Having been told by my website host that any facility that requires end-user input, eg an 'Enquiry' form or a 'Search' form could be an entry point for hackers, I just wonder if it is possible to use 'Search' with a Captcha, to provide another modest layer of security.

Any information on this would be appreciated.

Thank you

Captcha would introduce yet another entry point :D

No, Search module does not support Captcha.

There are no known vulnerabilities in recent version of CMSMS.

Personally I don't like captcha and I think website visitors don't like it either. It won't make your website 'visitor-friendly'. Imagine that you'd have to 'captcha' for every search you did on Google..

Thank you. I quite agree. I don't like Captcha either but I do use it for the Form to try to stop spamming.

You do know that catcha's and honeypots are not primarily meant to prevent hackers. but only to prevent bots.

methinks you are barking up the wrong tree.
