Template change - non admin account?

Post by landarone »

Hello there.
I have made one website. I also created user and group with special permissions - rights to change content.
After several checking and unchecking permission options I finally set up user as I want - to have special rights, something between admin and designer and editor :)
But one thing is impossible to set for me. I want this user to allow to edit only his pages, GCB......so I don't have checked option "Manage all Content". It works, user can edit and change only his content, OK. But when he edit or create new page so he don't see Option Tab where is possible to set the template for page. That is little bit problem for me, bacause I think that if you have user with better computer experiences so it would be fine when he will be able to edit page and also set template. Otherwise he will always contact me to change it, for example from "basic" to "article_photo" where are different edit fields and also associated different CSS style for frontend.

So is it possible to set up this "template change permission" in CMS, or I have to do it by my own way with PHP code change in CMS core (or some UDT...) ??

Try to set the 'Template' dropdown to the 'Main' edit page.

Site Admin -> Global Settings -> Content Editing Settings -> Basic Properties
Note it is a multi-select box (hold down ctrl-button to select multiple items)

Hello Velden.
Thank you for answer and advice. It helps me and it is what I was looking for.
Now I have user with rights between editor/designer/admin :)
I had a plan for today to do special Tab for Content editing, with use of UDT code and DB select, if user with this group is logged in and.....test this, select this.....
But this option in "Global Settings" is better and it is solution not for one project / one side.
Thank you again, (ThumpUpSmile).
