1st time install

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

1st time install

Post by Simokimo1 »

Dear Friends,

I am using a html website template and would like to integrate CMSMS in order to change content the easy way..

Unfortunately i am stuck at step 2 of the installation with an error:

Checking write permission on config.php

File not writable! (/public/sites/www........./cmsmadesimple/config.php)

Am I doing something wrong ??? ?

Any tips an help are very appreciated.

Thanks

you must make an empty file called config.php and upload it to the server in the directory of your cms.

config.php is not an empty folder, but an empty file.

ok. Thank you. I have made a copy of an existing php and deleted the content and then called it config. If i put php behind it then it appears as config.php.php , so I didn’t.

So when i go to my server directory and upload it, and then trying to install cms again but still no success.

Still doing something wrong? I deleted the config.php folder by the way.

The 1st thing you are doing wrong is not submitting any information about your situation, living us to guess what might or might not be the problem...
We need:
  • - CMSMS version you are trying to install;
  • - PHP version on your server;
  • - MySQL version on your server;
  • - other pertinent info that might help us help you, such as permissions settings on the folder you are trying to install CMSMS to;
  • - etc...
CMSMS is able to create it's own config.php file given the right conditions which is 99% of the time, so I would venture saying that the permissions are not set correctly, but this is me guessing...
So please read the forum rules, read the documentation and give us more info.

* by the way: English is NOT my native language (sorry for any mistakes...).
