Flickering CMS site

Post by Darwin Web Design »

Hi
I showed my client a demo of their site yesterday and the screen kept on flicking uncontrollably, it was when the mouse was hovered over the menu.  For the first hour or so it didnt happen, but then after awhile it did.  It happened on all of their computers in their office to this website - but when I got back to my office, it doesn't happen here...?

Would this be something I can fix... ?.  It didn't do it to any other websites they were looking at so I thought I had better check.

Thanks.  :-\

Were you using IE.

It will do that some times, I think the if IE line at the top is supposed to stop that.

This is in the default templates, it makes IE know how to work, just a little JS to help the poor ting understand CSS driven menus.

Ah yes, I already have this in my templates along with the following menu:

{cms_module module='menumanager' template='cssmenu-accessible.tpl'}

Could there be any other cure for this?  It doesn't happen on my IE browser here in my office, just theirs...

Thanks (what does HTH stand for??)

Are you using images in your menu, do you have any strange/funny/unusual spacing in your menu.

Are they using flat panel monitors, not that that should matter we want anyone to visit our sites w/o a problem.

Don't suppose you could look at this default install with the same computers?

It has the same menu you are using.

Usually is IE and is to do with the CSS. Usually a javascript load line solves this but you are using one for the menu. Check it out in the CSS discuss list Wiki for other stuff. The difference between machines is usually the IE cache settings.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, I'll look into it.
Just seems wierd it's only happening on their computers in the office but not on mine and I'm using IE6 a lot of the time and never noticed one flicker.  ???

Any clues on the cache setting, is there a setting they have that could be strange that I can suggest they fix?

Thanks

It is the cache in IE, check what your one is at home - or which ever does not have the flicker.

Sorry I didn't put in CSS Discuss links - apologies...
