Custom Install Files

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Custom Install Files

Post by thealbertaguy »

I'm looking to modify the install process to include my template as default. Has anyone done this?

Bad idea.
Just install CMSMS, import your template and set it as default.

I'm not sure why it is a bad idea if you are not skilled enough to know the answer?

It would imply a hack of the core/installer and it's not allowed to post those hacks in this forum. Nor would the install be supported.

I would setup the cmsms with all my favorite templates and settings and dump database and copy files.

Setting a new site up would then take only a few steps:

Setup hosting
Setup database
Copy files
Change database settings in config.php
Import database dump (which requires access to a database import utility, often phpmyadmin).

Optional steps:
Change password of admin/editors
If using CGSmartImage module check the settings; iirc it stores a path to for cached images that won't change dynamically.
If using LI2 module: research/refresh field definitions

I like that idea. So how long do you think that would take for each domain? I'm looking to do that 40 times... then make a few simple changes and do that install 40 more times... that process 5 times. 5 minutes starts to add up real fast.
Cheers

CMSMS is not a white label cms.
we do not support you're re-branding it for your clients.

[edit: removed]

1- If you can't do it... don't tell me I can't.

2- I do not work for Clients... I am my own web manager. I own over 400 domains, most of which are active and most of which I manage myself.

I'm looking for a bit of help as I am not Php or Sql proficient. I'm looking for direction and I will break it and then fix what I break. I understand this is not supported. I'm not looking for tech support to do this for me.
