Upgrade from old version

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Upgrade from old version

Post by robsteruk »

Hi

My first post - be gentle with me.

I have been tasked with updating an installation of cmsmadesimple running v1.2.4 Greenland to the latest version (current;y 1.11.11 Crystobal). Is this actually possible?

Thanks

Wow 1.2.4 was released in 2008.

Yes it is possible....in theory.

Whether you want to do it or not depends on how much content is in the site. If it is just a handful of pages (see admin area Content -> Pages) and not much else (no other modules producing lots of content) I would start a fresh CMSMS (1.11.11 as you say) and copy the templates, stylesheets, page contents over. Likely to be easier than upgrading.

More complicated content will need upgrading, in which case you need to visit:

Make a backup (and a strong cup of coffee) before you start. ;D

Do you use extra modules at the website?
Upgrading the core CMSMS shouldn't be a problem. 3rd Party modules could be...

Do you have a link to the site?

Hi and thanks for your replies.

I have never used this software before so don't know about extra modules, etc.

The site is currently at www.polypostalpackaging.co.uk. Maybe you clever people can tell???

About 40 pages as far as I can see, I suspect no modules but it's not possible to tell for sure without access to the admin area.

I would probably upgrade with that amount of pages.

If you have access to the database throught phpMyAdmin, look in the tbale cms_modules. It contains all the installed modules.
