Menu options are missing and can't find CMS-Login

Our site http://www.asburyvillas.com was hacked earlier this week
I have restored all of the files/folders (I think), and the db to a backup from august 2014.
We don't have any Menu Options nor can I login to CMS-Login which has always been here http://asburyvillas.com/index.php?page=cms-login

I need help... I am a volunteer admin for our homes association with a background in computers. But pretty much a CMS novice

I noticed the /admin page doesn't seem to exist anymore (it did last week).

You are correct. It did exist last week and now it doesn't?
This is a screen shot the home page w/menu options before they disappeared.


Hopefully this will help you see "what was" vs. "what is".

Is there some way I can "restore" the Admin login page?

Well, last week you started topic about password recovery and I had the url of the admin in my browser's history. Now, I get a 404 not found error.

My first guess would be the backup is not fully recovered. But it's hard to tell from here.

Someone really needs to have full access to at least database and FTP to find out. Hosting provider admin panel access would be even better.

If you don't know what to look for (but you do have the needed information to access the above mentioned services) consider posting a request for commercial help. Of course you do not post sensitive information like credentials in the public forum (unless you want the site to be 'hacked' again).

The backup of 8-15 that I restored from today has a status of "Set Up". I believe that means it has completed.
I have authorizations to log into GoDaddy, our web provider as well as access to the database. I just don't know what I am looking for specifically. I also restored the files using FTP.

What is the URL for the admin? I thought it was
asburyvillas.com/admin/cmsms/ If it is something else please let me know.

Of course I am not wanting the site to be hacked again ...

What I see in the souce code "Copyright (C) 2004-9 Ted Kulp."
means this is a very old version of CMSMS.

Do you know which version?

where do you set the source code date? I can't login to the admin panel to find the version.
Is there a way I can find it at GoDaddy File Manager?

I was able to Login to CMS but not with the Admin authority
I see there is a new version of CMS available.
Can someone help me install it as I don't have a clue what to do.
Can we keep the same content if we install the new version?

if you rightclick on an empty part of the page in the browser (firefox) you have a menu-item called "pages source code" or something alike, works for all websites.

What is needed to update depends on the version you have.

since you logged in you must be able to see the version.

here is some code I fount in the page source...

So I assume it is CMS Made Simple ver 1.6.8. Don't know what Pouebo represents.
I would need help with downloading and installing a later version as I am not experienced installing this software at all.

Hi

this version is about 5 years old, one should upgrade about once a year and also if there is a security issue.

A lot of things changed since that version so you will need several upgrades in a row or start new, which is the better solution.
Using the old templates and stylesheets and pouring some of that content in the new ones.

While you are not fit in html/css/php/smarty and the peculiariies of CMSMS it is better to find help, but it will cost some money.
This not something that you can solve by asking questions in the forum, it is quite a bit of work to get that site back to a managable situation.

I found a big problem and was able to restore the modules directory from 12/27/2014. So, we have our menu, news, etc. back ! WHEW

The last BIG problem is the lack of an admin login. I can still log into CMS but with restricted authority. The user id is "test".

How can I reestablish an admin permission for me to login?

If you start PHPmyadmin then you could copy the password-value from user "test" to the user "admin".

With a bit of luck this will give you back the admin-account with the same password as user "test".

Later versions use "salted" passwords, but in 1.6 this should work.

I just found it and am trying to login to PHPmyadmin but I can't as test or admin...
