my content menu has dissapeared

My CMSMS has been running well for the last 5 years but a couple of days ago the left menu panel disappeared.

It is based on version 1.2.3

I also had problems with my OSC shop and have had to rebuild that over the week end.

Can I fix this problem or do I need to start again?

Hi,
There are too many reasons why something could go wrong and not enough information here to even guess what could be the problem.

Please provide information about the server software, recent upgrades, updates, addons, changes, etc.

Thanks, my server is hosted at Dataflame.com and uses a Linux OS.

I built this 5 or 6 years ago and think there are no add-ons and I have made no updates or changes.

I suspect that dataflame may have changed something which has caused this, I asked them and they said they could not help and to upgrade the version of CMSMS to fix the issue.

They wrote the following, odd since I don't use wordpress.

It seems that the your wordpress website 'www.racediagnostics.comk' is using PHP directive 'registers_globals' which is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and above. Please see the following error logs of your website:

Too old a version for support.

Sounds like your server PHP version was upgraded and since you are running a very old version of CMSMS, it is no longer compatible with that new version. You will need to upgrade your CMS to fix the problem correctly, or move it to a host that is still running an old, unsupported version of PHP.

Yes that's exactly what I would do given such an old system. 1.2.3 is almost 7 years old....just be thankful it has worked OK for this long.

PHP 5.4.x Server Upgrades



In order to better serve our customers, Dataflame is making an important upgrade to your server's default configuration.

The default version of PHP on our servers will be updated from PHP 5.3.x to PHP 5.4.x. This update will ensure a more secure and stable hosting environment for your data.

The final version of PHP 5.3.x was released on 29/06/2014 and at that time we will update the servers with PHP 5.3.x.

1) Why are we making this change?

The default version of PHP that our servers are currently utilising; PHP 5.3 has been deprecated for some time and end of life for that version will be 29/06/2014. Therefore, we would like to see your web sites enjoying the security and performance benefits of the newer versions of PHP which we already have available on your server.

2) How can I make sure my sites will work?
To test your website, please login into your cPanel Control Panel, were you can change your current PHP version, PHP Selector, where you can choose from PHP 5.3, 5.4 or 5.5, Once you have finished testing, reverse the above steps and run the native version of PHP.

3) Will my site experience any down time?
No, you should not experience any down time

4) Who can help me update my site/script to use a newer version of PHP?
While we can assist you with changing the version of PHP your script utilises, we will not be able to recode your site to be compatible with newer versions of PHP. You should contact the author of your script/programme to inquire as to whether or not they currently have or plan to update their code to utilise later versions of PHP.

5) Software and versions compatibility?
Most main stream software if not all will already be compatible with PHP such as the following.

WordPress (versions 3.0 and above)
Joomla (2.5 and above)
Drupal (7 and above)

6) When is this happening?
We will be updating all web servers between Sunday 9th November through to Sunday 16th November
