Export items from Cataloger module

Post by howey »

Hi

I have a very old website running on version 1.2.2. A lot of the data on the website is held in the Cataloger module. I would like to update the site, but as we are going to change the look of the site plus the way the items are used it seems to make sense to start from scratch and use a different module for the items ie the "products" module?

As there is a lot of data with over 100 individual items, is there a way of exporting the data from the cataloger module. I would then like to import this data into excel, or even word etc so that I can manipulate the old data and then either cut and paste or import into the new website?

I did see a while back somebody using an external bit of code that went to each page and downloaded the information that way. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatfully received.

Regards

I don't know the Cataloger module but my general approach here [after backing up ;D] would be to go into PhpMyAdmin and find the Cataloger table(s) and export them to CSV, you will then have the raw data to work with.

I have used Products module and it works well. There is an import process, I suspect with some manipulation you will be able to alter the CSV to be in the correct format for importing.
