content_image sort and exclude issue

Hi there. I am trying to use image sort and exclude in a template i.e.
{content_image block='2' dir='images/homepage' exclude='thumb_' sort='1'} which has always worked on every other CMSMS site I've built.

Here though, it ignores the 'sort' and 'exclude'

I can't see anything obviously wrong, and have copied and pasted from another working site template.

Any ideas?

Different CMSMS version maybe? Older core code may not understand those options?
