Is there a new site statistics module?

Where oh where... can we find one...
All i have been able to find, is a site statistics module that seems to have had its last update somewhere in 2011.
Unfortunately I cannot find reviews about these modules.
How do I know if it will work with the current CMSMS version?
Is there a newer one that I can download somewhere else, on a different site than from within the module manager?

Or is everyone now using google analytics (if that works)?

Yes Statistics works OK, I use it in many of my sites. It gives a much simpler idea of visitor numbers, often better for clients than Google Analytics (which works in CMSMS too).

I've been using Piwik with all new installs - see piwik.org
Just upload to your server and install - free to use

Then, install the CMSMS piwik module to see the stats in the admin.

There is an app id code that piwik will create and it can be found in the piwik settings. Use that to connect the module to the piwik account....
