How can you change range of years available, mine finish at 2010 and need updating

That's odd, mine shows many years in to the future. Can you post your system info?

Your version of CMSMS is too old to have the system info function, that's why you couldn't find it. The screenshot shows the admin area footer which has the version number - 0.13. That version was released in May 2006.

Countless hours of bug correcting, vulnerability removal and user interface enhancements have gone in to the CMSMS core code since then. You should update your CMSMS by following this link. You will find your News area will show up to date years then...and many other improvements.

Thanks paul, what confuses me is I am a user trying to update an existing website created by cms, I do not have access to servers where code is kept, should they not have current version of cmsmadesimple ?
otherwise how should I progress

Sounds like you will need to contact the person who set up the CMSMS system. Or someone else who has the necessary skills and access to your server. They need read/write access to the files on your server and access to the database. They should be able to follow these instructions and from the other link I posted:
