Unable to edit or add page

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Unable to edit or add page

Post by jpionczewski »

Hi all,
sorry to again add a new post about a seemingly old topic.
I upgraded from 1.10.3 to 1.11 to ..... to 1.11.4 to 1.11.11
Everything fine.
Then I moved to a new server. After struggling with method one of moving I was able to move using method 2 from the docs section.
I then faced some acess rights issues but was able to solve them.
My site is up and running.
I can edit Global Content Blocks.
I just cannot add or edit pages.
When selecting a page for edit, a minute or so nothing happens, then in FireFox the screen gets white with 2 vertical black dots and a horizontal line at the top of the page.
The

Reading through the many posts on a similar error I was not able to find a solution.
I also dont see that I have old modules or use bad UDTs. (unsure about the 2 printing modules though)
I tried enabling error reporting in php.ini, but no error was generated when clicking on edit.
I cleared caches, "repaired" database, ...

Could anyone point me into the right direction?
What should I look at?

Thanks for your support.

Have you tried adding the install folder from your version of CMSMS then run install and when you get to step 5 where you input the DB info uncheck the create tables and install default content this should clear up any path problems...

How did you upload the folders/files from one server to the next..?

You mentioned using the steps from the docs site but a more detailed description might help us help you...

more info == more help

Thanks for this proposal, I have not tried but will do so once back home.

Regarding your question:
I followed precisely this instruction:
http://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/moving
How to move your CMSMS installation to a new server (2).
Both Servers are Linux, the new one is an Asustor NAS. I used "SFTP/Put" to transfer files.

I updated config.php.
I adjusted access rights to the cmsms paths.
I then ran into trouble with the database access.
I then removed all cms_ tables, created a new database "cms" via phpmyadmin and re-imported the sql-dump.
I then replaced old config.php with "default"-config from clean CMSMS install with paths adjusted to my needs.
Since then my site worked, except the page adding or editing in Admin interface.
Then I was performing a re-install of a freshly downloaded 1.11.11 file (full version) over the moved installation, cleared caches, no success. now I am stuck.

Now that I read the instructions on moving yet again, I did NOT clear the tmp folder! Can that be the reason?

Certainly worth a try!

Any PHP errors when that happens ??? Check your server log.
