I have a .mobi domain with all permissions allowed, the installer stops with the "Write permission in destination directory " error showing, I tried as root, as apache and as the user for that domain, all fails.
I installed without problem on .com extension on the same server, so I know it's not a server problem.

Re: 2.0 does not install on .mobi domain
follow up
Turns out it has nothing to do with .mobi extension, I did not think it did anyway. The permission error seems to come from openbase that was on, I turned it off and was able to install in an empty directory.
My next step was to try to install in a directory containing the last version of cmsms, that failed with the permission error, again, the whole directory and its subdirectories and files had 777 permission.
Could the .htaccess files be the cause?

The installer has been changed to better indicate individual session issues (open basedir)
