Forum Module

Post by XpatTech »

Tried the JM_Forum module and i keep getting an "Unable to parse .xml file" error.

Is it out of date and if so is there another module for a forum?

No and no.

Not sure why XML is not working locally as it is the same file Module manager installs from the repository, but Module manager installs it without a problem and the archive version is also working properly.

I don't get what your explanation means.

Does the JM_Forum work with CMS ver 1.11.10?

Yes, it works.

My explanation means:
  1. for some reason XML importing is not working when uploading from a locally stored copy of the XML file;
  2. this is weird as its a copy of the same file that CMSMS ModuleManager uses to install JM_Forum from the module repository and this works properlly;
  3. iirc it worked when it was released, as it was tested thouroughly;
  4. I tested it just before I answered you the 1st time and could install it without a problem through ModuleManager, and by uploading the provided archive file and expanding it on the sever, meaning both this methods work;
  5. uploading XML does indeed produce an error, but as it's not the only way to install the module, it's not a critical issue: should be fixed on the next release;
