Problem with CMS 1.0.4. 'Lanai'

The place to talk about things that are related to CMS Made simple, but don't fit anywhere else.

Problem with CMS 1.0.4. 'Lanai'

Post by TSOR »

I can't update my pages when I go to my admin panel. I click on the page and when it opens the view is different. In the content section the tool bar has gone and I cannot select text, font, add URL's, images etc. etc. It's all computer gobbledeegook now. Something has changed (in a setting perhaps) and I don't know how to change it back. My ISP is unable to help and suggested I try here. Can anyone help please.

It appears that something in your server environment has changed.
Your version of CMSMS is WAY too old and not supported anymore. However you can (and should) upgrade:
- http://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/upgrading ... nformation
Then if you still have problems it will be easier to try to help.

I just need a basic website, nothing fancy. Which would be the best version to upgrade to?

We always recommend the latest (currently CMS Made Simple™ 1.11.10 "Pinzon") mainly because of bug fixes, stability and security.

That means it should be particularly easy to upgrade if you go through the recommended steps. No extra 3rd party modules or dependencies would make it easy too.
Do make a full back up before upgrading, and do a test run on a copy of your site if at all possible.

Absolutely agree with Jo about upgrading. The version you are running was released in January 2007. Hundreds of hours of development, bug fixing and vulnerability stopping has gone in to the CMSMS code since then.

Have you recently changed browser? To IE 11? That might be the cause of (some of) your issues.
