Hi there,
I just tried adding a couple of new users to my website (via the backend, I am using Frontend User Management module Version 1.22.3) and noted that all of a sudden I get an error message "Invalid Username" and it won't add the members. I haven't changed anything in the settings and it worked well before so I am not sure what is happening here. Also, if I log into the frontend of the website and try to change the username (which is allowed in the settings) I get the same message (i.e. "Invalid Username"). I double checked all settings and they seem to be ok. Has anyone else experienced this problem before and might be able to provide me with some helpful information?
Many thanks in advance.
Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Re: Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
What version of CMSMS, other modules etc. basically system info...
You might want to check what it is using for user name as it is default to be the email address, which you don't mention in your post...

Re: Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Thanks for your response. I am running the latest CMS version and have the following modules installed:
CMSMailer 5.2.2
CMSPrinting 1.0.5
FileManager 1.4.4
MenuManager 1.8.6
MicroTiny 1.2.6
ModuleManager 1.5.5
News 2.14.2
Search 1.7.11
ThemeManager 1.1.8
TreeManager 0.6.0
CGExtensions 1.38.6
FrontEndUsers 1.23.1
SelfRegistration 1.8.2
AireLibs 1.3.2
FormBuilder 0.7.4
CGCalendar 1.13.4
Captcha 0.4.6
Showtime 3.4
Forum 0.9.4
CGSimpleSmarty 1.7.2
MyFavorites 1.0
Gallery 1.6.1
CGJobMgr 1.3.1
NMS 2.8.2
EventsManager 1.2.7
I updated to the latest Frontend User Management version this morning and the error is still there. I checked all the settings and email is username is set to "no". However, if I select yes and use an email address as the username, I can enter some data but then I hit submit I get an 500 Internal Server Error, the whole application crashes and the user has not been added. As I said, I didn't change anything and it worked really well before so I am really unsure what's going on.
Many thanks.

Re: Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Not sure if it will help but you should try to update Frontendusers to current module version 1.23.1 (and depending module too).
Re: Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Thanks for your response, I already did that and it didn't help. However, I was just advised by my website host that they upgraded to PHP 5.4.26 so I am wondering whether this triggered it. Through cPanel I have now selected PHP 5.3 as my current version but the error still persists. I have a little test site as well and deinstalled the module, then installed again but this doesn't seem to fix the issue. It's really weird. Any ideas?
Many thanks.

Re: Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Ok, after more testing it seems to be a php issue. When I use the module with the new php version, the invalid username message disappears but I get the following message as soon as I hit submit: Fatal error: Call to undefined method pear_ADOConnection::GetUserID() in /home/hencasto/public_html/portal/modules/FrontEndUsers/lib/class.FrontEndUsersManipulator.php on line 1801
However, as soon as I switch back to php version 5.3 the "invalid username" error appears again.
I use this module on another website (on php version 5.3.28 with the exact same settings) and it works perfectly fine there so I will also make contact with my host to see what's going on there.

Re: Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Thanks for the tip, I've just upgraded the module again and the error is still there. Also, if I select php 5.4, I now get an error saying 'Membership in at least one group is required" although a group is selected (i.e. the box is ticked) and it won't let me do anything else. At least the fatal error message has disappeared...
Re: SOLVED - Frontend User Management - Invalid Username
Hello again everyone,
We have now moved my website to another server with php version 5.3.28 and this has fixed the issue. I have no idea what bug it was and even the technicians couldn't figure out why this error was occurring but at least it's all back to normal. Let's just hope they don't upgrade the new server to php 5.4 next week...
Thanks again for your support.
