[SOLVED] EventsManager-like module, but not for events

Post by qwalk »

I am looking for a module that seems like the EventsManager, but not exactly quite like that.

I need a plugin where I can create a bunch of custom fields so that a back-end user can create a new listing based on the custom fields I've created. It should then be possible to create and customize a summary template, as well as a detailed template when a listing has been clicked.

My idea is to use this plugin for:
- Used car dealerships (for listing used cars for sale)
- Office property owners (for listing office spaces for rent)
- Freelance jobs available, and so on

What is the best module to use for this? I have been using the EventsManager so far, but the default fields bums me out, like 'price' 'event dates' 'registrations' 'category' etc.

I think the best way to put it is: An overall module for listing stuff (with summary & detail template support) based on user defined fields, used for all kind of listings, not only events.

Thanks a lot ;D

Yeah! I was just about to update this thread.. I installed and tested out Listit2, which is 100% customizable! Really great module.

Only problem is (like the EventsManager) that the search module don't work with it. Even though there is a setting in the created instance called "Items searchable by Search module:" which I checked. But search results still don't show up. I've cleared the CMSMS cache, reindexed Search module multiple times but still nothing. :(

Those items should be searchable too! Checked that.

Are you using the latest versions of CMSMS and it's modules?

Yeah, completely fresh install from 3 days ago or something. But I managed to get it working, i manually removed the search module and installed it again, and now it can show results from the ListIt2 module.

It is a bit unstable though. Like I can't search for parts of a word. If for examble I have the word "officespace" in a listing, and I search for "office" no results are showing. It should show parts of words too. Any way to fix this you think? :/

Also if a word has a hyphen in it for example "office-space" and I search for "office-space" it doesn't show anything. Neither if I search for "office" or "space".

If this isn't fixable, the search module is useless. :(

Did you test the search function of ListIt. Maybe that suits your needs.

Search module works just fine, so does ListIt search.

If you use ListIt with Search module, remember to enable this feature in instance options.

After you have done this, reindex all search pages in Search module.

If this dosent work, you are doing something wrong.

All i know it works.

Yes the search module works, as I also said, but the only problem is, that it doesn't work if you search for a part of a word. And this is not only for listings made in Listit2, but throughout the entire site.

Example: if I search for 'module' it only shows results containing the exact word 'module', and does not show results of 'moduleS'. This is an issue for me, and I can't figure out how to solve it. :/

Also, how does the Listit2 search function work? How do I display a search field? I can see and edit the search template, but the actual search field I can't seem to get working. Do I need to add a {} tag with some kind of search parameters?

And also, thanks for all your help so far.

You probably can't. The module seems to be programmed to search this way.

I'm not aware of a third party module that does a 'wildcard' search (which does not mean there is none).

Well search modules understands words from begining and end but not from middle so if you search for:

mod - works
ule - works
dul - not working

My bad. Velden is correct.

it can only do full word search it seems.

You file feature request to search module if you think this should work differently.
