I have finally released comments 1.6.

can I just opdate the files or do I have to reinstall the module?

Looking here: http://viewsvn.cmsmadesimple.org/viewsv ... module.php

It looks like Ted added upgrade code for upgrades from Comments 1.5, so you should be able to just copy over the new files and then click the "Upgrade" next to "Comments" in the "Extensions -> Modules" section of the Admin Panel.
