MenuManager ~ Relative URLs

I notice that MenuManager throws up absolute URLs for all items (;http://www.thesite.com/path/to/page) rather than relative URLs (/path/to/page/).

Is there any way to change this? I have a very large menu and it is affecting my text-to-HTML ratio, which in turn affects SEO. I have looked at the templates and the module PHP files but cannot see anything obvious.
