NMS bounce count doesn't work

Processing of bounces removes the mail from the server but the bounce count does not increment, still at zero.

The smtp server is not on the same server where the site is hosted so I'm checking whether or not that may be a factor. I do appreciate that there could be a million and one factors involved in this so basically just checking if this does actually work and what I might need to check / set in order for it to do so.

Did you solve this matter meanwhile?
I currently have similar probs as users with bounces messages are processed by
the "process bounces“ function - bounce mails will be deleted in income box of pop3 mail account but nothing else happens in the User db. So on next newsletter routine this users - whatever is set on the settings tab regarding disable a user - will receive a newsletter again and again.
I fact this causes problems with the abuse department of our hoster as the ip of the smtp server is about to be blocked as spam server.

If you have a solution just let us know. Even i will check out this issue today.

after numerous problems with NMS and our hoster, I switched to mailchimp.

To bring up this issue in this thread also here the bug Report:

This bug is detected on cmsms 1.11.7. installation and aa 1.11.9 installation as well.
NMS MODULE 2.7.4 - PhP: 5.4.21:

1. Sending Newsletter creates bounced Messages / mailadresses.

2. Using in backend extensions / Newsletter made simple / users / Process Bounces

3. Result: the bounces in mail income box are gone. BUT !!! >>>No change in user fields error_count and bounce_count.

Thus the bad mailadresses that caused bounces are still active and bounces cumulate each time we send out Newsletters abuse department of our provider is blaming us.
