ListItExtended help

Formbrowser doesn't work for me and I found on a blog that ListItExtended is supposed to replace it. My question is how I can't get my head round how on earth ListItExtended works. The module help is next to useless.

Essentially, I've created an instance, I've got a lot of fields and I've got them listed, I can't work out how I get any information into the fields, how I can link it to FormBuilder (I've chosen the bit in my form to link to ListItExtended, but that's not doing anything) and how I link all that to FrontEndUsers.

That surprises me. As far as I know ListIt2 has the most extended helppages of all CMSMS modules...

It's long, but helpful? Not so much. It could do with explaining what exactly it is and how it works, rather than assuming you already know.
