What is the purpose of the GalleyThumbs folder? Apparently, the module does not use it.
Is there some hidden function for this folder, or can I savely delete it?

The thumbs Gallery makes/use are stored here. So you do need this folder...

all thumbnails are stored in the gallery's respective folder (images/Gallery/somegallery/).
