Polls module doesn´t work

Post by panther »

Hi,

I´ve installed Polls Made Simple module, created new poll, new poll option and show new poll in website. No problem.

Frontend: when I click to any option, the behavior is:
- JS console returns an error, cause there is undefined function (<form onsubmit="return Pollspoll_FormSubmit(this)">; or return Pollspoll1_FormSubmit(this)). I removed "1" from this function name (http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/bug/view/8806), but it still doesn´t work.
- I´m redirecting to homepage (/index.php?pollvotingchoice_1=3&vote_poll=1&vote=Vote)
- no vote is counted, all options has still 0 votes

Possibility: I Can run that without AJAX, I don´t need the AJAX solution if it´s broken. But I don´t know how :-(

Any ideas, helps?
Thanks.

CMSMS version: 1.10.2
Polls: 1.0.0
AjaxMadeSimple: 0.4.0

your cms-version is no longer supported.

http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/bug/view/8806 is still open; no solution.

staartmees:
There is no problem with my CMS version, but with the module.

I use CMSMS for many and many projects and it´s not possible to have the newest version. I´ve made in this version many and many updates and use that at all my websites.

So, any other ideas how to solve that?

Thanks.

Incorrect!
Because your CMS version is too low, you can't install the latest release of the module...
Which is 1.1.0 !
Perhaps your problem is fixed there...

Rolf
It´s not possible as I write before. I think I have faster CMS core than is in the "newer" versions.

The module version 1.0.0 was stable too, do you tell me that nobody use that, or it worked incorrect to everyone who tried that? It´s no possible.

Here must be someone who solved that in previous module version.

It *is* possible, but you choose not to... such a choice has consequences.

Sorry, I can't help you out here.

Hi,

What about using the Poll module version 0.3.2 ?

It might work.

I know 1.10.3 was stable but you cannot ignore progress, new versions will come and new modules will stop working on old versions. That is the same in every software.

Kind regards,
Jan

Polls module was broken after the latest update in January 2013:

http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/bug/view/8806

I am running CMSMS 1.11.9 so that is not the issue.

Since I do not like running out of date modules, does anyone know of an alternative polls module?

Thanks for the suggestion, however I was hoping for a poll system that would be integrated into the CMSMS admin panel.

It sounds to me like you have made changes in the php core files. Please take a look at this post in the "read me first" section:

@panter if you have modified the CMSMS source then:

a: You are not going to get any help here.
b: You're qualified to fix your own problems with modules.
Follow me on twitter
Please post system information from "Extensions >> System Information" (there is a bbcode option) on all posts asking for assistance.

I can confirm Polls 1.1.0 is broken with the latest, unmodified, CMSMS.

For me at least, 1.0.0 does work, but I am conscious that running out of date modules is a security risk.

Seeing as the bug report for 1.1.0 was filed 9 months ago and the developers have not fixed or acknowledged it, it is probably time I should abandon this module.

I accept this might be ok for some, but this is no substitute for a module which is integrated into the admin panel.
