[Solved]User (Editor) unable to Login to Admin

[Solved]User (Editor) unable to Login to Admin

Using 1.11.7 and modules up to date.

Have set up an Active Editor, filled in his Username and Password and sent him the login details. I tested it by logging in as the new user - successfully.

He has just told me he cannot login. He filled in his username exactly as sent to him and the password and clicked on Submit, the username and password disappeared and nothing else happened. The login screen remained the same - empty. No error message.

I tested his login using incorrect password and then got an error message.

Have searched for a reason for this but cannot find one. He is not computer literate eg did not know what browser he was using, but surely this is foolproof.
Is there some setting on his computer that is preventing the admin screen from coming up on Submit?

Probably browser does not allow cookies

I did wonder about that, Velden - it was the only reference I could find on the subject.

I'll send him some instructions on allowing cookies!

Unfortunately client still unable to login to Admin even after fixing cookies.
Am asking him to try on another computer to pinpoint if it is just his computer.

He is using IE7. Have got him to clear the cache, allow cookies and allow popups and still he cannot get into Admin. He tried on a colleague's computer and got in using colleague's login but could not get in using his own.

I really don't know what else to try. Are there any rules about length of username?

if the user can login on one computer, and not another then it's an issue with that computer.

next I would disable the firewall.

He has disabled 2 firewalls and still can't get in.

I have set him up with a new username and new password and asked him to try that.

Result - still doesn't work. ???
Now I've asked him to set IE back to default.
Now I've asked him to refresh the browser after trying each of my suggestions.

He didn't know how to do that so I sent him an image with an arrow indicating the refresh/reload button - success at last!!!
