How to add a expire date field to my home page gallery?

I display a rotating gallery of images on my homepage. I would like to be able to schedule the images to come of by date and time in the admin. How do I go about do this? Thank you?

I'm able to add a new Field Definition under the Gallery module. But when I go to create a new field "expire date" there is no "date" option under the "Type" dropdown. Any ideas how to add more options (ie date) to the Type dropdown? I would like that field to be a calendar date and time selection
