problem with news module detail page links not working

I am running cmsms core 1.11.4
I have the news module installed - 2.12.10.

I have a couple of different categories of news, and the summary display works fine, but when you click on the link to the detail page, it goes to a 404 page cannot be displayed.

I believe in the past we had some work done to configure pretty urls for the news module, and I wonder if this was broken when I upgraded the module.

Can anyone help?

you're core and news-module are outdated.

News uses hardcoded routes. Had the same problem myself after upgrading a site. Go into (not sure as don't have menu in front of me), site maintenance and update routes table.
