File Manager won't allow me to open directories

Post by cmsforchurch »

I recently upgraded to CMSMS 1.10.3. Now when I am on the File Manager screen, it no longer allows me to click on a directory to open the directory. Clicking the directory just brings back the same screen.

If I try to create a new directory, it says:
You are not allowed to modify files outside the uploads-dir! (That requires the Advanced File Management permission)
Even when I am logged in as the administrator, I get the same error.

Check system info page for any yellow ! or red X...

As full admin create another full admin and try with those credentials...

P.S. we no longer support 1.10.3, it is also vulnerable, please upgrade asap...

I just upgraded to CMSMS 1.11.7 and am still getting the same errors. If I click on a directory it simply displays the same page again instead of opening the directory. And if I try to create a new directory it gives this error:
You are not allowed to modify files outside the uploads-dir! (That requires the Advanced File Management permission)
There are no yellow ! or red X in my system information.

And I tried your suggestion of creating another full admin user and got the same errors.

I was wondering if there is Advanced File Management permission setting that must be set elsewhere other than on the User Group Permissions.

The other thing I noticed is that all the directories in my uploads directory have permission setting of 755. Should they be 777?

Here is my updated system information.

Extensions > TinyMCE WYSIWYG > Profiles

Backend profile settings > Show filemanagement options > Save profile

Thanks for the suggestion staartees. But it didn't help the problem and only showed me more problems. Might these additional problems be related to the fact that File Manager won't let me open or create directories?

New problems:

If I click any TinyMCE tool in the toolbar that opens a pop up window, the pop up window never populates - it stays empty. So I wasn't able to verify if adding file management options to TinyMCE WSYWIG profiles as staartees suggested allowed me to upload a file or make a directory from within TinyMCE.

This empty window pops up if I try to insert or edit a link, anchor, image, or custom character.

Also, I am getting many warnings in the error console for Firefox when it is unable to open these windows. Here are just a few of the warnings:
Timestamp: 6/18/2013 10:14:50 AM
Warning: The character encoding of a framed document was not declared. The document may appear different if viewed without the document framing it.

Other unknown property declarations that it said it dropped included: scrollbar-base-color, scrollbar-darkshadow-color, scrollbar-face-color, scrollbar-highlight-color, scrollbar-shadow-color, scrollbar-track-color
fyi, I am logged in as administrator.

Trying to open a directory with the File Manager generates an even longer list of dropped declarations: 36 warnings, no errors.

I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has. Thanks for your help!
