{Solved}TinyMCE and Microtiny don't work after upgrade

Post by elkman »

Both WYSIWYG modules don't work after upgrade.

I have been upgrading multiple websites. Everything has been working fine. Ine site has me stumped. I can't get either WYSIWYG module to work. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and cleared the cache multiple times. Everything is checked correctly.

Are there any ideas that might help?

Everything from the CMSMS version to every module are the most current.

I've found that hard clearing the browser cache helps to bring it up again, after un-installing installing, etc...

Thanks for the reponse Dr. CSS. Can you define "hard clearing", I have never heard this term before?

shift + F5
shift + 'refresh'-button
or delete temporary internet files

Is it on a different host than the other succesfully upgraded sites?

All the same host and even the same server. Clearing cache, temporary files doesn't do anything.

The WYSIWYG just doesn't seem to load. Clicking a page to edit all that can be seen is the code.

Do they show up/work when you go to extensions > tinymce or extensions > microtiny..?

Yes. They show up as expected. I can access TinyMCE and adjust settings, etc. They just don't show up when I open a page to edit or open a GCB to edit.

Every box is checked correctly, etc. too. Just weird.

To be sure:
My Preferences » My Account » User Preferences (tab)
'Select WYSIWYG to use' & 'Enable GCB WYSIWYG'

If that's not it, check the Admin log: Site Admin » Admin Log
And if possible apache's access.log and error.log.
Enable PHP error reporting if disabled.
Enabled debug mode in config.php: $config['debug']=true;

Hi velden. Yes, I have done all of this and nothing shows up. Updated 8 other sites on the same server and no issues at all. Thanks for the ideas.

what if you check or uncheck "Use WYSIWYG editor" at the bottom when editing a page?
what if you check or uncheck "Use static config file" Extensions > TinyMCE WYSIWYG > Advanced?

Tried all of those too. I am recreating the site in a brand new install to see if there is any difference.

Even the "testing" area within the TinyMCE module doesn't show the WYSIWYG toolbars, etc. Although you can access and set everything.

Ok, after trying multiple things and using everyone's suggestions, I have found something that worked. I ran the update function twice. The second time fixed whatever error was causing the WYSIWYG modules not to work on this one site.

Thanks for all suggestions and help!
