CGCalendar and Front End Users: Controlling "add event"?

Post by emgaron »

I'm currently in the process of developing a small "members only" site for a choir. I have FrontEndUsers installed to deal with the "members only" part and that seems to work fine. Currently, I'm trying to implement the "calendar of events". For that, I have CGCalendar installed. Displaying a simple calendar or a list of "upcoming events" works fine, however, I'm stumped by getting "adding events" to work.

What I want to achieve is this: I would like to allow some of the FrontEndUsers to add events to the calendar. In the CGCalendar-settings, I have seen a setting "Members of this FEU group can add events". Hence, I've defined an additional group and set it in that setting as being able to add events. However, it does not seem to have any effect - no matter which of the test users that I created I use to log in (i.e. whether they are a member of that group or not), I can always successfully add an event to the calendar (on a page with {cms_module module="CGCalendar" action="addedit_event"} ). Obviously, I have missed something... Hence my question: What is the correct way to achieve my goal as descriebed above? Pointers to RTFM that I have missed are as always most welcome!

Regards,
Thomas

P.S.: Versions:
CMSMS 1.11.4
CGCalendar 1.10.4
CGExtensions 1.32.1
FrontEndUsers 1.21.2
SelfRegistration 1.7.4

On the page where users can update the calendar, try setting the "Content Type" to "Protected Content" and then click on the "Permissions" tab and select the group that can update the calendar.

Thank you - I thought this would be a suitable workaround. Unless someone can shed some light on what I might be missing with regard to the CGCalendar setting I described above I'll probably have to go down that route.

Cheerio,
Thomas
