moving old site, db, and content to a new install...

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

moving old site, db, and content to a new install...

Post by alvin101 »

I seem to have some trouble with moving and upgrading...

I have had some of my sites for a long time, some of my sites have been hacked, some have been upgraded for years and modules taken in and out, etc.

I want to clean things up. I want to do a new install and move my content to the new install and new server rather then upgrading the old install.

I would like some tips on doing this?

1. How to handle the db?
2. Moving folders that have uploads and page content, etc?

What do you think?

If you want to move just the content w/o just upgrading the CMSMS then I would suggest the old tried and true copy/paste method, you can export the page templates which will move the images/stylesheets/ etc. to new install...

You could also try CGContentUtils ability to export content etc... but it only works with content pages... not every module ever developed.

Of course, do your playing on a backup, in a safe environment.
