cannot submit changes from my home computer
I have a strange problem using version 1.11.1. On most computers I can log in and make small text changes etc. and submit without any problems but from my home computer I cannot do this. Everything works fine up to the point of pressing the Submit button but then nothing happens and after a short while I get an internal server error message. I have tried from both IE and Firefox with the same result but as soon as I move to a different computer elsewhere, it works fine.
Obviously it cannot be an installation problem so what could be preventing the submission/upload from my home machine?

Thanks rage-all. I suspect this may well be the case. I will try what you suggest and let you know.

I have disabled the firewall but it still doesn't work. I have also installed cuteFTP and determined that I can upload files to the server that way. But still no joy from the browsers.

Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
OK. I have now tested with a laptop on the same network and it also is unable to upload my changed files. All the machines that can upload are not on my network. This leads me to suspect that the router firewall on my network is the culprit.
Does anyone know what port I would need to open on the router to enable the uploads? Or if there are any other settings that may need changing?

Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
Interestingly I installed Cute FTP on the same machine to test the FTP and it had no problem uploading files to the website. There also appear to be no other problems with file transfers such as email attachments etc. The problem lies only with CMSMS uploads and, it seems, only on my network.

What does the error message say? Anything relevant listed in the CMSMS admin log? Anything in your host php error log?Robolovsky wrote:Everything works fine up to the point of pressing the Submit button but then nothing happens and after a short while I get an internal server error message.

Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
also.... try a different browser on the same machine that is giving you problems.
Often times browser plugins can cause problems. So it is best to try a different browser on the same machine to isolate the problem. Either way, this does not sound like a CMSMS issue, but something on your PC.

Nothing relevant in the Admin log. Not sure how to access the host php log. I'll post the full error message shortly.paulbaker wrote:What does the error message say? Anything relevant listed in the CMSMS admin log? Anything in your host php error log?

Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
I believe I did mention in my opening post that I had tried this both with Internet Explorer and Firefox. I have also done the same with a completely different machine (laptop) on the same network.calguy1000 wrote:also.... try a different browser on the same machine that is giving you problems. I have not tried to infer that this is a CMSMS issue but feel that it might be a router/network issue as the uploads work fine from other machines on other networks. I am hoping to hear from someone who might be able to put their finger on what I may need to adjust in order to get it working.

Here is the error message I receieve in Internet Explorer 8.paulbaker wrote:What does the error message say?
"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log."
The root@localhost seems unusual. Dos this give any clue as to the cause?
Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
With that sort of error in the browser there should be a php error logged in your hosting. Where to find it depends on your host and what system they use. If you don't know just raise a help ticket with your host to ask how you can access the php error log. Once you get that post the latest (say) 20 lines.

Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
Thanks Paulbaker. I assume you mean the website hosting provider as opposed to the ISP. What still seems strange is that the error does not occur outside of my network so logic would seem to dictate that it is an ISP or router issue rather than a hosting error?
Re: cannot submit changes from my home computer
Yes - the website hosting. Until we know what the error is, it's anyone's guess as to what's causing it.
